The "Devotedly Evil" Ms. Danvers from "Rebecca" supercut.

When I finished watching Hitchcock's Rebecca (1940), I felt I just HAD TO make a video about the fascinating character of Mrs Danvers. The "Cruising" documentary with William Friedkin.

In his research, Friedkin worked with members of the Mafia, who at the time owned many of the city's gay bars.[3] Al Pacino was not Friedkin's first choice for the lead; Richard Gere had expressed a strong interest in the part, and Friedkin had opened negotiations with Gere's agent.

After completing Raiding the Lost Ark in 2012, I immediately embarked on a new project, tentatively called Jaws Bites Back. After 16 months of trawling, reading, spooling, skyping, chatting, interviewing, editing and refining, I am pleased to release Inside Jaws, A Filmumentary (2013). As with my other filmumentaries this is a completely unofficial and non profit making project made with a genuine affection for the film. Enjoy. Website - Filmumentaries.com. Episode 23: Dead On Set

Making movies can be dangerous business. There are so many things that can go wrong on set, everything from cameras not working to well-timed stunts not going as planned. Throughout cinema history, some individuals who make films have been hurt, maimed and even killed. On today’s morbid episode of Slums of Film History we’ll be focusing on those films where someone met their unfortunate demise. We discuss whether or not these fatalities brought about change or if the show simply went on. Today we’re “Dead on Set.”

Episode 22: William Castle - Godfather of Gimmicks

In the late 1950s to the mid 1960s, one director boldly went to great lengths to scare the crap out of theatergoers: William Castle. Castle was equal parts PT Barnum, Alfred Hitchcock and Roger Corman and his greatest schtick was gimmicks. He rigged theaters with seat buzzers, fainters, fright breaks and coffins. He even made a decent movie or two. Join us as Slate profiles the late great William Castle: Grandfather of Gimmicks.

Episode 21: Bodily Fluids - Puke and Jizz

You’d be surprised by how many films feature puke and jizz, or then again maybe you wouldn't. Films like horror classic “The Exorcist” or the coming of age gem “Stand By Me” both contain memorable puke scenes. Both comedy classics “There's Something About Mary” and not-so-classic “Scary Movie” both contain unforgettable scenes featuring jizz. Sperm even makes an appearance in an Academy Award winning film! So get ready as Tom hits you with a load of puke and jizz in the second episode of our two part series on Bodily Fluids in Cinema. You'll be glad you came!

Pee pee and poo poo have a long, robust history in the annals of film, from shock films like “Last House on the Left” and “The Exorcist” to lowbrow comedies like “Caddyshack” and “American Pie.” Even Oscar movies “Shawshank Redemption” and “Slumdog Millionaire” feature main actors submerged in sewage. Episode 15: Head Trauma

WARNING: THIS EPISODE IS GROSS

A mind is a terrible thing to waste, but you'd never know that from watching the movies. Episode 14: The Golden Age of Porn

In 1972 audiences around the country stood in long lines to get a look at "Deep Throat," the first mainstream pornographic film to be reviewed by Variety. Some people loved it, some hated it but everyone had an opinion. In the 4 years that followed a slew of big budget porn films would capitalize on this craze in what would eventually be called "Porno Chic." And then just a quickly as it started, it was over. Join us as we go...ahem...deep...into the history of The Golden Age of Porn.

During the 70s, 80s and 90s toxic waste seemed to be everywhere in America. But then one day, it vanished. Slate and Tom dive head first into Toxic Waste on the Season 2 Premiere of Slums of Film History!

Episode 10: Profanity

Few things can get your point across quite like some well placed profanity. Hollywood knows this, which is why some of the best dialog in film are also riddled with swear words. But where did all of this start? When did cinema get such a filthy fucking mouth? On today's episode we'll explore the history of profanity in movies. We'll discuss everything from damn, to fuck, the the infamous C-word. So if you are sensitive to swearing, you may need to skip this one.
